what's in a name...

Arah: Means the way; a traveler in Hebrew (boys name)
Sarah: Means "lady" or "princess" in Hebrew

We really haven't discussed names too much. While we were in the hospital with Olivia, Brinley was sitting on Matt's lap and said "Daddy, we are going to have another girl and her name will be Sarah and she won't die." However, Matt and I aren't all that sure about the name Sarah because, well, I am Arah. So we have been trying to see if Brinley likes other names...she always comes back to Sarah. i do like the name Sarah, i can just hear the phone conversation in my head though... "Is Sarah there?" You want to speak to Arah?" No, Sarah!"... I think I would go a little nuts. How does a person who names there kid after them deal with the mixup? So, I think we will keep trying to change Brinley's mind...or not.

*after some inspiration from Brinley and my SIL, Juli, Matt and I talked about how children must know things that we don't. This little girl was obviously supposed to be named Sarah Mae, after her Great, Great Grandmother Sarah Mae Watkins Castleton.

So fun to get caught up on your blog! I feel like it's been forever!!

My sister had a name picked out for her daughter, but her other girls (ages 4 and 2) INSISTED that they name her Sarah. It was almost like she didn't have a choice! I don't know what to tell you, but I think it's awesome that Brinley knows.. you should probably trust her and deal with the confusing telephone calls :)

I had a dream about 2 years before Zack was born.. that I had a third boy... he was super fair with white hair and big round eyes. In my dream his name was Tommy. I never forgot that dream and when he was born (even though I was sure he was a girl) I kept thinking about that dream and felt pressure to name him Thomas. Aaron talked me out of being so sentimental, but even now I wonder if it was OKAY to name him something other than what I dreamed. Who knows. I am sure you will know when she's born. Good luck and I am SO excited for you and your family!

Go with Sarah - Brinley was right, trust in her. I have always been told that God speaks through the children, we just have to listen.

On a side note, my mom and my names are very similar (Kathleen and Karlene) we worked through the confusion and I feel truly blessed to be compared with such a wonderful lady!

Here is an idea for you. Mine and Matt's Grandma Castleton was Sarah Mae Watkins Castleton. She did not like the name Sarah, so was known as Mae her whole life. So Sarah makes an excellent first or second name and you can call her by the other one. That way you all win and that would be nice to use a family name like that huh? Just an idea.

Love Sarah...of course!! Our Sarah is a little Princess. She was actually going to be named Taylor Ann, because I had a dream where I called a little girl by that name, but my sister-in-law named her daughter Taylor before me and was upset that I wanted to call my daughter Taylor. To avoid family quarrels I Named her Sarah Tiffani. Never regretted that decision.
I think I side with Brinley. You know what they Say, "Out of the mouths of babes."
If it's annoying you could make Sarah her middle name.

Juli-
so funny you should mention Mae. That was going to be Brinley's middle name and i still want Mae as a middle name...maybe Sarah Mae isn't so bad after all, especially now that I know it's a family name. I was named after my great great grandmother, Arah Melissa Ross.

I VOTE FOR SARAH MAE!!! I actually really like that name! Maybe if I ever have anymore kids I will use it. But not if I have a boy.
I know I am crazy for having my kids so close. It wasn't really by choice it just happened. So Heavenly Father had a plan for these girls to be here now. AHHH!!

I have always liked the name Sarah. It would work well in our family with our biblical names. I love that Brinley knew about the baby. I have always believed the veil to be thinner with kids. A great story to share as they grow up. I can only imagine you would get tons of comments on Arah and Sarah, but go with you heart!

And Karen, If I told you once...Dannon is a yogurt!!!

I got goose bumps when I read what Brinley said. That is so cool.
I know you will figure it out, infact I think you already know the answer in your heart.

That is wonderful. I am sure our Grandma Sarah Mae is thrilled and already knows her namesake very well. How sweet to think about that. Oh and you know about Quinn Alexis right? Her name was supposed to be Stephanie or something like that. She is who she is. I couldn't argue with it. Can you imagine her being anything else? Quinn is in Spokane. Make sure you see her k. Miss you all.
