the button tree craft

i have been asked by at least a hundred (okay, not really, but it sure seems like that many) people about where we got all our buttons. Well, we collected them over the year, bought some at Walmart bought some through a favorite site of mine, ETSY.com You need about 500 buttons for a large tree.
The best place to buy styrafoam cones is at Michaels (with the coupon, of course).
The pins are the most expensive, so buy them at Walmart, enough to pin on 500 buttons. we like the large pearlized ones.
Whalaa...hours of fun. It will keep your children, or yourself, busy for a very long time.

As for the pom poms, for the garland, the dollar store is the cheapest place I've found.

Have fun crafting!

When I made mine we couldn't find styrofoam trees with a pointed top, so we bought the cardboard ones...I ended up hot glueing all of the buttons on and it turned out really cute....and I also raided my mom's garage sale and thrift store buttons.

How cute. I have some vintage buttons I think I might have to try this.

Thanks for commenting on my blog. Cute trees! That's a lot of buttons! Baby Sarah is adorable, as is Brinley. I see you live in Spokane. That is where my hubby is from. We make it there once or twice a year. His brothers and sisters all live in the valley, his parents have land and live up in Dishman/Mica area. Maybe we could have a blog get together sometime Ü.

I also see that we have losing a baby in common too. What a sweet picture of baby Olivia. My little Mason lived 6 days and died in June of 2000 of Epstein's anomoly--a rare heart defect. It does get easier, but I remember him every day. We too were blessed with a healthy girl after he died.
